Artist's Description
The rugged ridge of the Peñón de Ifach in Calpe offers fantastic views towards the blue sea and the mountains near the coast. It is a wonderful place to get a bird's eye view of the Costa Blanca. For this reason, the Peñón de Ifach Natural Park is one of my favorite destinations on the Mediterranean coast. At the summit, which is 332 meters above sea level, the clocks seem to tick a little more slowly. I particularly like watching the seagulls resting on the limestone cliffs.
The Peñón de Ifach Natural Park is an excellent vantage point. It has fascinated people for a very long time. Archaeological finds at the foot of the mountain prove this fact. Due to its exposed location, locals used the mountain as an observation post in the past. Thus, the Peñón de Ifach was an important part of a defense system to protect the Valencian coast from pirates.
