Description
View from the top of the Peñón de Ifach towards the blue Mediterranean Sea and the coast of Calpe. The south side of the mountain is characterized by steep cliffs. Eroded rock formations frame the coastal scene. Mediterranean blue meets the light beige and light gray of the limestone cliffs.
The Peñón de Ifach Natural Park is an excellent vantage point. It has fascinated people for a very long time. This is evidenced by archaeological finds at the foot of the mountain. Due to its exposed location, locals used the mountain as an observation post in the past. Thus, the Peñón de Ifach was an important part of a defense system to protect the Valencian coast from pirates. Today it is a popular destination for hikers and climbers. The elevated viewpoints allow for a bird's eye view of the Costa Blanca and contemplation of the sea. For this reason, the Peñón de Ifach Natural Park is one of my favorite destinations on the Mediterranean coast.
My photographic work is inspired by long hikes in the southeast of Spain, where I let myself be enchanted by Mediterranean mountain landscapes. Every time I take a break in the Peñón de Ifach (Penyal d'Ifac) Natural Park and let my gaze wander into the distance, the clocks seem to tick more slowly. The local hiking trails offer wonderful views of the Mediterranean Sea and towards the surrounding mountains.
This landscape photograph is destined to bring some of the charm of the seaside town of Calpe and its landmark, the Peñón de Ifach (Penyal d'Ifac), into your home.

Thank you for this wonderful comment, Kevin. This is one of my favorite viewpoints on the northern Costa Blanca. It is (a bit hidden) just before the summit. The composition of the steep rocks and the view of the blue sea has a fascinating and harmonious effect on me.
