Description
During my hikes in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, I particularly like the remote places where trees grow on the eroded sandstone. It seems to me that wood and sandstone form a very special bond with each other. Over a long period of time, a tree grows on the hard rock and finds its way into the soil.
In the Affensteine area there is such a place. Walking along the Lower Terrace Trail, you can discover fabulous rock formations, crevices and tall trees. Their powerful tree roots are partly above ground and are clearly visible. In the partial shade of the dense treetops, I like to observe the colours and structures of the sandstone.
In my opinion, the beauty of nature often reveals itself in details that seem inconspicuous at first glance and have a very special magic at second glance. Shapes that bear witness to the growth of a tree fascinate me very much. But I also like to include the eroded surface of sandstone in my photos.
In my opinion, trees with their strong roots stand as symbols of strength and the cycle of life in nature. The connection between trees and rock lasts over long periods of time. On the one hand it bears the marks of weathering and on the other it reflects the gentle beauty of nature. This photo is meant to bring the magic of the remote places of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains into your four walls.
