Description
Cañón del Mascarat, viewpoint between vertical cliffs. The imposing Mascarat Canyon was created by Mother Nature over thousands of years through the power of water and erosion. It is located between the coastal towns of Calpe and Altea on the Costa Blanca.
In the past, the canyon represented a geographical barrier between the districts of Marina Alta and Marina Baixa. Only a dangerous mountain pass that ran along the cliffs allowed people to cross from one side to the other. A tunnel and bridges were built to create an artificial connection between the rocks. These constructions are still considered masterpieces of engineering in the Province of Alicante. The combination of rocks about a hundred meters high and exceptional bridge architecture inspired me to dedicate a series of photographs to the Mascarat Canyon. Natural rock shapes meet architectural eye-catchers that were once created by human hands.
Rocks bear the marks of time and at the same time stand for the timeless beauty of nature. So this photograph is dedicated to a special place on the Costa Blanca that has fascinated and attracted people for a long time. When I stand between the imposing rocks, I get an idea of how powerful the forces of nature are. At this moment I let the charm of this place work on me and the clocks suddenly seem to tick more slowly.
The local hiking trails in Calpe and Altea offer wonderful views of the characteristic rock formations on the Mediterranean coast. This photo is meant to bring the charm of the Costa Blanca and its historical travel destinations into your home.
