Description

My enthusiasm for boats and their reflections in the water often leads me to the pretty marinas on the Costa Blanca. Early in the morning, when it is still quiet on the coast and the sailboats are reflected in the almost smooth surface of the sea water, I love to go in search of motifs. I am fascinated by details, the slight movements of the water and the abstract imagery created by reflections in the water. The blue of the sea meets the white hulls of the boats and the silhouettes of the masts.

Based on detail shots, I like to experiment with symmetry and symmetrical patterns. To emphasise abstraction, I combine the natural reflection in the water and its mirrored duplicates in one image. My aim here is to create a dreamscape that on the one hand is reminiscent of a natural scene in the harbour and on the other hand brings forth completely new forms.

The serenity and harmony I perceive during long walks along the coast is what I want to express with this symmetrical composition. In this sense, this picture is meant to bring the subtle blue tones of the Mediterranean coast and the magic of the reflections into your four walls. It is inspired by the elegant shapes of the boats and their reflections, as well as by the relaxing effect of the sea water.
