The drawing is part of the series: black.book | drawings of the forest
Monochrome ink drawings of nature. The black.book series is dedicated to silent places, trees and their strong roots which can be found in the middle of the forest. I particularly like to draw the organic shapes of roots and branches in a graphic way. Therefore I create a complex network of delicate, black ink lines. In this way, I try to concentrate on the pure forms that are visible. But also the idea of the flowing vitality inside the tree flows into the design.
Long hikes through the forest and to remote places are my source of inspiration. When I spend my time in nature, I often have my sketchbook with me to make quick drawings. Usually I use them for orientation before I begin to draw a special tree or landscape in detail. In my eyes, trees and their impressive roots stand for vitality, stability and the cycle of life.
